Nature in Motion Winner. Winndland Smith Rice Awards

I like to tell stories and photography is an excellent way to do it, but not the only one.
For some years now I have been trying to document my photographic travels on video, with the indispensable support of Marta, my wife.
The last one we have published is Kilauea, a three-minute short that summarizes a two-year project and two trips to Hawaii’s Big Island to photograph one of the world’s most active volcanoes. Chance was that during the course of the project the volcano dramatically changed its activity and suffered one of the largest eruptions of the last 200 years. It may be several generations before an event of this magnitude occurs again. And I was there to document it!
This video has received a nomination in the video category of the 29th edition of the Memorial Maria Luisa and it has just been announced that it is the winner of the Nature in Motion category of the Winndland Smith Rice Awards and will therefore be exhibited at the Johnny Morris’ Wonders of Wildlife National Museum and Aquarium, in Springfield, Missouri, which receives 1.6 million visitors per year and will have a 10,000 square foot gallery dedicated specifically to exhibitions.
I want to remember from here all the families who lost their homes, buried forever in a sea of lava.

Me gusta contar historias y la fotografía es una excelente forma de hacerlo, pero no la única.
Desde hace unos años he procurado documentar en vídeo mis viajes fotográficos, con el imprescindible apoyo de Marta, mi mujer.
El último que hemos publicado es el titulado Kilauea, un corto de tres minutos que resume un proyecto de dos años de trabajo y dos viajes a la Big Island de Hawaii, para fotografiar uno de los volcanes más activos del mundo. El azar quiso que durante el transcurso del proyecto el volcán cambiase dramáticamente su actividad y sufriese una de las erupciones más grandes de los últimos 200 años. Puede que pasen varias generaciones antes de que vuelva a ocurrir un evento de esta magnitud. Y yo estaba allí para documentarlo!
Este vídeo ha recibido una nominación en la categoría de vídeo de la 29 edición del Memorial María Luisa y acaba de hacerse público que es el ganador de la categoría Nature in Motion de los Winndland Smith Rice Awards y por lo tanto será expuesto en el Johnny Morris’ Wonders of Wildlife National Museum and Aquarium, en Springfield, Missouri, que recibe 1, 6 millones de visitantes al año y que dispondrá de una galería de 10.000 pies cuadrados dedicada específicamente a exposiciones.
Quiero recordar desde aquí a todas las familias que perdieron sus casas, sepultadas para siempre en un mar de lava.
